A Few More Christmas 2015 Gifts/Commissions!

A commission piece for a co-worker's husband's Christmas gift (a rendering of their house): 9x12 clayboard, scratch tools, watercolors, micron pens (black, brown, blue, green), prismacolor markers (pastels and greys). A lot of give & take on this one; houses are not usually my specialty, but the "customer" was very happy with the outcome (as was I)! I like the homey, rustic look I gave her house.

Another commission piece for a co-worker- this time for her mother's Christmas gift (a drawing of their late Jack Russell, Clover): watercolors on cold press paper, micron pens (brown, blue), white colored pencil. This was one of my favorite commissions, because I love dogs and I know how much this dog meant to my co-worker and her mother. It was precious and an honor to be asked to illustrate her.

A gift for Lou for Christmas! <3 Our cockatiel, Moby: scratchboard, scratch tools, prismacolor markers (oranges, yellows, pinks, blues). Can't decide which scratchboard I've done of him is my favorite, now...

Willie the Cat in Watercolors

A little Secret Santa present for my co-worker and friend! This is her adopted and quickly/WELL loved cat Willie.

Watercolors, white colored pencil, blue and brown Micron Pens.

I'm pretty happy with the textures in this piece, and the level of detail I was able to maintain with it being a smallish size (only about 9×6, including the border). I might do more of these for myself- working from photos and doing quick start-to-finish pieces...

Birch Tree (Gifts)

Some watercolor/micron pen paintings that also happen to go along with my Up In The Trees series. (I hope to reuse these images/concepts!) These will be gifts for Christmas this year: bookmarks with bird nest charm tassles and a larger framed piece.

Moby Scratchboard- already edited!

Decided to add a vignette with some grey ink around the edges... Fixed some focus issues I think the first vs. had.

Moby Scratchboard- (nearly?) finished!

Not sure if I've got more work to do, but I'm very happy with it for now! My first experiment with adding color to a Scratchboard... I'm digging it- how it can change the contrast.

Up In The Trees- Artwork!

Artwork in progress to go along with my "Up In The Trees" jewelry pieces. Plans include bookmarks, stationary, and prints.

Below are some recent shots of my current jewelry collection and experiments for the series: single nest pendants, cluster necklace charms, and both straight and cluster pendants... (I hope to build up enough inventory to open a booth at a local craft fest in the next year or two!)

Moby Scratcboard

An ongoing personal project that is about halfway done... <3

Happy Birthday Lou!

Acrylic painting of Lou's 240SX project car. My first FULLY acrylic on canvas painting! Also of a subject I tend to avoid: cars/machines... I'm especially proud of the wheels and smoke!

Cave Temple Ruins (Card Design)

Design work for a someday card design? I may see if Wizards of the Coast is interested...? Bottom is the base watercolors and micron, top is finalizing steps with pastel and colored pencil layered over.

This painting may not be done!

Some Recent Scratchboard

The top may be used in future children's books, and the bottom was a gift for a very good friend...

I'm dreaming of a handmade Christmas...

This was the Christmas of handmade gifts! (2014)

From butterfly paintings (based off an original orange version from The Progressive Palette), to birds' nest jewelry, to bleach-designed t-shirts, to painted nesting dolls, this was the most creative Christmas I've had yet. (And I think everyone loved what they got, to my relief! : D)
