This July, I was honored to receive the opportunity to beautify a small part of Pittsfield, MA with a painting of my favorite topic: birds! Eagles, more specifically: Golden and Bald Eagles to be exact. I created a collage of eagle imagery based on actual Golden/Bald eggs, plumage, flight, and portraits.
In total, the process of sanding, priming, and painting the box likely took about 10 hours. I used heavy body & lightfast acrylic, and it will be sealed with a clear, weatherproof coating to finish.
I hope my imagery conveys the beauty and strength of both eagles, and the freedom they stand for.
Alicia, My name is Chrystal Shelley. I met you at Stearns a year or so ago when I subbed there. I saw the article in the Eagle about your eagle painting on the electrical box (or telephone or whatever!). The reason I am contacting you is because my 16 year old son ( who has been homeschooled his entire life and is an artist!) is interested in painting one of the boxes, too. Could you please tell me about the process that you went through to be able to paint the box? Thank you so much! My email address is cashelley@verizon.net. Phone number is 413-448-6217. Oh, and I really love your painting of the golden and bald eagles!
